This is a great post from Leigha Mitchell on what a woman really wants from a company when looking at potential employers. I like her calling bullshit on typical startup culture. Every company boasts a great culture. The way she describes an ideal culture is perfect IMHO:
I care that the CEO leaves on time to pick up her kids during the week, that the holidays are for spending time with your family, and that when the guy in marketing got engaged to his boyfriend everyone went out for lunch to celebrate. Those are the things I want to see, and the team I want to be a part of.
While there’s always more work to be done, I like to think that my employer, Litmus, does a great job of building just that kind of culture. Our team is filled with amazing and talented women (and men) from around the world, with a lot of different backgrounds that contribute to making Litmus a vibrant and supportive company. We’re hiring, if anyone’s interested. And we’re dedicated to keeping Litmus diverse and welcoming.
