One Year at GitHub

Partying Octocat

I didn’t even realize it until my manager pinged me, but today is my one year anniversary at GitHub.

It’s been an interesting year, to say the least. There have been a lot of challenges—changing team structures, attrition, multiple rounds of layoffs, Microsoft making its hand felt more and more, and having to manage a lot of work with very limited time and resources. But there’s been good, too—a lot of smart colleagues, leveling up some new skills, being an integral part of our marketing organization, and the sparkles 😉

Honestly, it’s a lot like any job. There are ups and downs, cycles of low and high morale, etc. I’ve grown a lot over the last year and stagnated in other ways. I think that’s just how it goes. But it’s mostly cool to be part of a company that’s so essential for so many companies and people around the world. I’m looking forward to what the next year brings at GitHub.
