Introducing Slate

April 3, 2015

Email design can be difficult to get started with. While I know of two books that can help out (wink, wink), a lot of people don’t have the time to learn how to code fully responsive email templates from scratch. Don’t worry if that sounds like you, though. The folks at Litmus have your back.

We just released a free set of responsive email templates called Slate. You can download them all here.

Slate is a starter set of templates, with different emails meant for different purposes. There are templates for newsletters, product announcements, simple announcements, transactional receipts, and even a plain-text-like one for more personal emails to customers. It pretty much represents the basic emails that nearly every business should be sending to their customers.

I built the templates up based on the Salted template used in my A List Apart article. As such, all of the templates are nice and modular. You can mix-and-match content sections to your heart’s content without worrying about breaking things. And don’t worry, once I built them out, Kevin went through and tested everything and fixed any dumb mistakes on my part.

We’re all really excited to see what people build with Slate. If you make something cool, let me know so I can show it off to everyone at Litmus.
